Hashomer Hatzair is a left-wing, democratic and emancipatory secular and Jewish youth movement that advocates for the rights and interests of children and young people. Through non-formal educational work as well as discrimination-conscious pedagogy, we seek to realize our vision of a free and just society. The organization works to bring together and strengthen the pluralistic community as a group to recognize Judaism as a shared culture and history.
The organization works with partner organizations and our global movement to come together on a personal and social level. We work to create a safer space by strengthening and building Jewish socialists* and their allies. We aim to create independent and critical thinking out of our solidarity in order to achieve a fully just and equal society.)
KEN Berlin
Hashomer Hatzair (in Hebrew: The Young Guardian) is an international, secular Jewish, socialist youth movement. We welcome all children and young people who enjoy group experiences, learning through play, and are interested in Judaism.
Our local group is the Ken Berlin. “Ken” in Hebrew means nest and youth center.
Every Ken in the world ticks a little differently, depending on the local context, population and circumstances. One of the core values of our movement is youth autonomy. Our activities are mainly planned and carried out by teenagers: from the age of 15, our members can become group leaders themselves with the help of a pedagogical qualification process (Juleica).
World Movement of Hashomer Hatzair
The World Movement of Hashomer Hatzair (in short: the WM) is the umbrella organisation of all Kenim (branches) of Hashomer Hatzair in the world, and is based in Israel. The WM promotes a global agenda and work plan with seminars, social and educational projects which brings together the different Kenim through joint activities and actions in Israel and other places around the globe.)
ROSBOT
ROSBOT is a sub-project of HHD and a platform for critical educators and youth workers, initiating projects to support progressive education and self-development. Offering workshops, trainings and mentorship to individuals and organisations, on topics such as anti-Semitism & racism, gender equality, conflict transformation, etc.
